I saw #NationalAuthorsDay trending on Twitter and it still amazes me that I can say I'm an author. If you have read my books then you probably know my journey. I never, EVER, thought I'd write a book. But I had a story idea in my head. So one day, I opened a blank word document, and started typing. Now it's five years later, and I've written five books.

Anyone really can do anything, especially in this country. It may not be easy, but it can be done. I had to teach myself everything about books, because I'm not a reader. But your dreams and goals might be easier. Have you wanted to be a food blogger? Or an Etsy vendor selling craft items you enjoy making? Is it time for you to finish that college degree?

DO IT.

In #MyBooksIn30Seconds series, I introduced you to Daniel, a friend who was the muse for the character Daniel in I Can Handle Him. In #25 of #MyBooksIn30Seconds series, I introduce you to Davis, my friend who was my inspiration for the character Davis in Plebeian Revealed, Plebeian In Danger, Plebeian Reborn and The Doctor, The Chef or the Fireman.

I don't prefer to name fictional characters after the real names of the people who inspire them. In Daniel's case, I had no choice! We had been working together on the character development and when I told him my name ideas for that character, he insisted it be Daniel! In Davis' case, he never knew I was writing a character who would be a best friend to the main character, Lauren. Since this was my first-ever book and I didn't know what I was doing, I had put the name "Davis" in as a placeholder as I wrote. And now I know, a writer shouldn't do that because it makes it too easy to get attached to that name. So that's how Davis ended up being not only an inspiration, but also the fictional name in the book.

Today is the first day of fall! And in today's #MyBooksIn30Seconds, I talk about The Doctor, The Chef or the Fireman, a book set during fall in the small Virginia town of Cory City.

Kendra has run away from her boyfriend, Doctor Christopher Randall. She wasn't looking for love, but seems to be on the way to finding it during her first date with fireman Matt. As their date winds down and they begin saying goodbye, she jokes about his dirty truck, and he gives her two unforgettable kisses.

Welp, if you have read my books, then you knew I was going to do a #MyBooksIn30Seconds bit on the lime scene in Plebeian In Danger. It's an epic scene. The band Plebeian's world tour is falling apart, as is lead singer Lauren's life. She seeks some comfort from tequila shots but when she runs out of limes, it's her hunt for more limes that gets her in more trouble.
